2020 Acura MDX vs. 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE
Both the 2020 MDX and 2020 GLE bring their own version of comfort and amenities to the luxury SUV arena. Here is how Kelly Blue Book compared the two.
The starting price of the 2020 MDX is $45,395. The 2020 MDX has available advanced all-wheel-drive; hybrid option; roomier third row; known for reliability and solid resale. According to Kelly Blue Book, the MDX lacks the prestige of some European brands. The 2020 Acura MDX won KBB’s 5-year cost to own award in 20119 for its reliability, resale, and reputation. In addition to a useful 3-row layout, the MDX offers an advanced take on AWD that stresses handling.
The starting price of the 2020 GLE is $53,700. The 2020 GLE has available 4Matic AWD. This vehicle has a superior ride; optional class-leading electronic suspension. The third-row seat is optional. The vehicle has a heavy feel to it. Other features like driver assists like lane-keeping and adaptive cruise control are not standard.
“The 2020 Acura MDX is a roomy and comfortable luxury SUV that comes with a full suite of safety- and driver-assists. The MDX offers two powertrains, a standard 3.5-liter V6 that makes 290 horsepower that mates to a 9-speed automatic, or the MDX Sport Hybrid. The latter uses a 3.0-liter V6 combined with an electric motor and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission to deliver 321 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque. Acura’s Super-Handling all-wheel-drive (SH-AWD) is optional on all versions of the MDX except the Sport Hybrid. It not only improves grip in all kinds of weather but also makes this SUV fun to drive. One quibble we have with the MDX is the distracting dual-screen infotainment display.” – Kelly Blue Book
“The 4th-generation Mercedes-Benz GLE is all-new for 2020 with notable upgrades. Chief among them is a new user interface that responds to “Hey, Mercedes’. The GLE also boasts an all-new intelligent electric suspension called E-ABC (E-Active Body Control), and the Road and Surface Scan which uses cameras to read the road ahead. The GLE’s luxurious cabin is outfitted in premium materials and boasts a panoramic sunroof that’s now 50-percent larger. The GLE is offered with two engine options, the base 2.0-liter turbo I4 that puts out 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, or the 3.0-liter supercharged I6 that makes 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. While navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are standard, assists like lane-keeping and adaptive cruise control are not.” – Kelly Blue Book
Both vehicles have a comfortable drive and two powertrain options. The Acura MDX has reliability and higher resale value. The MDX also has a lower price. Compared to the GLE the MDX is a better value.
